Mary Anne Keshen

Co-Founder & Owner

Anne Keshen is an experienced investor, attorney and successful entrepreneur; she has held senior leadership positions, served on Boards and acted as an advisor to public and private companies, investment groups, financial institutions and regulatory agencies, including the FDIC.  Ms. Keshen is highly experienced in making informed business decisions based upon the legal, operating and financial risk to capital and ownership.  She brings an entrepreneurial approach to asset value creation, market share growth and returns on investment; spanning development, acquisitions and portfolio management, as well as the resolution of distressed commercial assets and loans.

Ms. Keshen is the co-founder and co-owner of Tallen & Keshen Holdings (TKH) and its affiliates.  TKH is a successful entrepreneurial developer and investor in retail and commercial projects in underserved communities with high barriers to entry, primarily in the San Francisco Bay area, the Monterey Peninsula and Southern California. Ms. Keshen is highly experienced as both an owner and fiduciary in structuring and overseeing new ventures, value creation plans, complex transactions including financings, acquisition/dispositions, leases and restructuring initiatives; navigating the complex legal, transactional, governmental and operating issues.

Ms. Keshen was Managing Partner of a venture with a privately owned investment company (now a Bank of America company), with 9 billion in assets, which prior to Bank of America’s acquisition was one of the largest privately owned commercial real estate and loan portfolios in the US.  She was responsible for the management team, strategy and direction of new and existing investments of all types of income properties as well as directing outside legal counsel and leading the financial, brokerage, accounting and investment banking efforts to achieve business plan objectives, investment returns, operating efficiencies and risk management.

She was previously selected as a lead advisor to the FDIC, directing portfolio asset resolution and policy initiatives.  She has participated in FDIC policy meetings in Washington D.C., providing perspective on standards for distressed asset sales and the operating and legal considerations.  She is an experienced advocate with a successful track record in appearing before business boards, municipality, state and federal agencies and leading the complex business considerations with shareholders and investors.

She formerly worked with the investment company owned by an NFL team owner, who was a Forbes 400 entrepreneur and attorney, in the structure, negotiation, financing and strategic direction of  his portfolio holdings located primarily in the Southeast, including venture, financing and operating alternatives.

She was formerly Vice President of a privately owned real estate holding company in Texas; working with a former FHLBB Chairman and executive team in managing a billion dollar portfolio of loan and real estate assets located throughout the Sunbelt states; directing legal, regulatory, receivership and entitlement matters, tenant issues, addressing borrower and investor bankruptcy concerns, restructuring options, dispute resolution, brokerage, contractual, sale and financing decisions.

She has served on the Advisory Board of a bank in formation, the Board of a Municipal Utility District, and selectively advises capital groups, private companies, media, entertainment and sports concerns on maximizing their real estate holdings, market growth strategies and venture opportunities.

Ms. Keshen is licensed to practice law in Florida and Texas and is a member of the Business Law Section of the Florida and Texas Bar Associations and the Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section, supporting entrepreneurial enterprise.

Civic and Charitable Activities

Ms. Keshen is a Leadership LA 2009 graduate fellow, focusing on the vital issues impacting the more than 10 million residents of Los Angeles County.

She provides annual internships and mentoring to Law and MBA students pursuing Responsible Entrepreneurship as a career path. She is an advocate of the important role that responsible entrepreneurs play in improving communities, value creation and creating new jobs.

Ms. Keshen is the Vice President of the Board of Directors and on the Finance Committee of The American Cinematheque in Los Angeles, the leading arts charity dedicated to film’s global role as an art form.  The Cinematheque owns the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, CA, home of the first movie premiere and operates the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica, CA.

Ms. Keshen served on the National Advisory Board of Warren Gorham & Lamont in NY (now West Publishing Company) on commercial real estate investments and has authored articles on asset management and value creation for their publications as well as the ULI and Urban Land Magazines.

She is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), investing in the role of technology in business & real estate; She is also a past member of the Urban Land Institute.

She supports the Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles and Kiva.org in San Francisco and is a long standing advocate of the important role that non-profit health, arts and human service charities play in revitalizing and sustaining communities.

She is a member of the Los Angeles Press Club, selectively acting as an investigative journalist on matters of civic, complex business and philanthropic interest.

She served on the Board of Directors and Exhibition Committee of the Italian Art Museum in San Francisco and collects the works of emerging artists and 20th Century artists.

She resides in Los Angeles and Marin County, CA.
