Terrence P. Tallen

Co-Founder and Managing Member

Terrence P. Tallen is a Managing Member of Tallen & Keshen Holdings, LLC a privately held real estate investment, development and asset services company. He brings an experienced and multidisciplinary approach to the acquisition, entitlement , leasing, repositioning and redevelopment of retail and mixed use real estate projects. Mr. Tallen’s primary responsibilities are corporate strategy, value creation and the acquisition of new retail property investments for the company and it partners. Mr. Tallen is an expert in retail redevelopment, repositioning and leasing.

Tallen & Keshen Holdings specializes in the repositioning of retail and mixed use properties and invests in value added properties located in high growth corridors and coastal communities with high barriers to entry.  In 2006, Tallen & Keshen Holdings redeveloped the Marina Landings Shopping Center which allowed Wal-Mart to expediciously open its only store on the historic Monterey Peninsula. In addition, the Gateway Retail Center located in Marin County, CA was named the”Best New Retail Deal of the Year for 2003” by the San Francisco Business Journal.

Professional Experience – Corporate Leadership

Mr. Tallen is a national markets industry professional who has established a track record of accomplishment and leadership in retail and urban mixed use real estate investments.

Mr. Tallen has served as a senior executive with several large public and private real estate organizations including: The Sembler Company, The Alexander Haagen REIT (ACH:AMEX), Watt Commercial Properties, Burnham Pacific Properties (BPP:NYSE) and CBRE (CBG:NYSE). He also served as a Vice President of the California Public Employees Retirement

System/ Burnham Pacific Properties Co-Investment Partnership Venture as well as CUIP (CalPERS Urban Investment Partnership).

He has directed the repositioning, redevelopment and leasing of over 350 retail properties, comprising approximately 35,000,000 sq ft of GLA. At Burnham Pacific Properties, over a 30 month period, the leasing division under his direction consummated in excess of 1,000 leasehold transactions, comprising in excess of 3,000,000 square feet. Through their wholly owned retail services company,  Retail Enterprise Group, Inc or as a senior executive, he has leased or directed the leasing of approximately 175 retail properties to 100% occupancy.

Prior to entering the real estate industry, Mr. Tallen held positions with several Fortune 500 companies including PepsiCo, Sears/Coldwell Banker and Esmark Foods.

Affiliations

Mr. Tallen is a senior member of the Urban Land Institute, the International Council of Shopping Centers, he is a member of the Editorial and Advisory Boards of Shopping Center Business Magazine and Western Real Estate News and serves as a mentor for the ICSC Mentoring Program.

Education

Mr. Tallen graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He was elected Indiana’s football team co-captain in 1979 and 1980 including co-captain of the nationally ranked 1979 Holiday Bowl Championship football team. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Kelly School of Business Benecki Center for Real Estate Studies at Indiana University. Mr. Tallen was elected to the Stephen T. Badin High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
